Too Burdened

Precious Child of the King,

The burdens you carry are too much.  You are not made to carry these loads.

You try so hard, and you work so diligently.  Striving to be your best, to live with discipline, and to fulfill the calling you have received.  You are determined to control as much as you can by your own strength and ability.

But you take upon your shoulders the weight of burdens that you cannot bear.  Burdens that you should not bear.  Burdens that are not yours to carry.

You were made to live with freedom from these weights.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”  Matthew 11:28-30

Lay your burdens at the feet of Christ.

Cast all of your anxieties upon Him.

Release your grip.

Entrust it all to Him.  Surrender.

The fear is that when we let go, then all will be lost.  But the truth is that when we let go, we will finally find peace.

The heavier the burden, the tighter your hold, and the greater the fear that your release will result in disaster.  But freedom is found in the realization that any perception of control is a deception.  In fact, when you try to control things apart from the will of God, you only add to your frustration.

You must lay your burden at His feet.

But do not think you can then go do what you want.  He says to “take my yoke upon you” … His yoke is not a heavy burden of legalism or suppression.

But it is a life dedicated to following Him.

“Then He said to them all:  “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.  What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose of forfeit his very self?”  Luke 9:23-25

Surrender your burdens to Jesus.

Die to yourself so that you might find true life.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”  1 Peter 5:7

Follow Christ.

Find rest for your soul.
